Meet the Team: Andre Demarest

Next up in our continuing blog series on members of the OrbitMI team is Andre Demarest, our CFO. Andre is responsible for financial and human resource management, tax and legal compliance, and much more.

Fun Facts

·Andre played four years of Division I rugby in college 

·Previously he served as the volunteer Treasurer and Chairman of the Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Norway

 

·Currently he is a volunteer Council member of the Huguenot Society of

 America in New York City 

 

·Andre is from Demarest, New Jersey, where he can trace his family roots all the way back to 1677

 

·Prior to working at OrbitMI, Andre worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York where he earned his CPA and then transferred to Oslo, Norway where he worked for the firm in Transaction Services. After PwC, he had CFO level roles at FAST and Birdstep, both ex-OSE listed IT companies in

 Norway, before starting his own consulting firm to provide financial, HR & strategic management services for early-stage IT companies, such as Task Analytics where he remains a Board member

 

Primary role at OrbitMI

Andre has been with Orbit since the beginning; he was part of the team that worked on the corporate spin-off from Stena Bulk in 2019, and he joined as CFO in June of that year. Andre is excited to see and experience the impact OrbitMI is making in the market, which needs a committed and collaborative IT player to lead by example with clear results for its customers and partners.

When asked what he likes most about working at OrbitMI, he said that he most enjoys seeing the dynamic and passionate team help Orbit reach its full potential as a mission critical digital solution for shipping optimization.
